Solenoid

Troubleshooting

How to test your van's solenoid switch.

Follow this simple process to make sure the solenoid switch in your Hanvey Grooming Van is working properly by using the multimeter in the back of the van::

Make sure the van is turned on and the engine is running.

Open up the back of the van and turn the multimeter dial to the arrow indicator over the 20 volt mark.

Place the multimeter's black probe onto the green screw on the fuse box labeled "GROUND" and keep it there throughout this test.

Place the multimeter's red probe onto the fuse labeled "S1" and check the number on the multimeter's display. Move the red probe to the fuse labeled "S2" and check the number on the multimeter's display again.

If the two numbers are within 0.5 of each other, your solenoid is working just fine. If the difference is greater than 0.5, it may be time to change your solenoid.

You should perform this test about every two years or if you're having power problems and have already checked your battery connections and alternator. If you need further assistance on this topic, please call our office line at 864-269-2912.

Thank you so much for being the most important member of the Hanvey Family!
