Spare Fresh Pump

Swapping Out Your Fresh Water Pump

This video demonstrates how to swap your Fresh Water Pump with the spare provided in your Hanvey Grooming Van:

Your Fresh Water Pump and spare are located in the back of the van on the wall next to the Drain Tank.

Remove the inlet hose connection on the lefthand side of the Fresh Water Pump. There will be some water drainage when you do, so lay a towel on the floor underneath the pumps if you don't want the floor to get wet.

Next, you'll want to go to the tub and spray any water that's left in the pump out into the tub to drain the system. You'll need to ensure that the Fresh Water switch on the 12 v Power Panel is on. Once the water stops flowing from the spray nozzle, turn the Fresh Water switch off and head back to the back of the van.

Follow the red and brown wires out of the Fresh Water Pump to the Quick Connector and disconnect it. Sometimes this takes a little time and effort, so feel free to twist it back and forth and grip it tightly until it comes free.

Remove the outlet hose connection on the righthand side of the Fresh Water Pump. There will be some water drainage, but if you released the water pressure into the tub, there shouldn't be much.

Lift the Fresh Water Pump off of the wall mount bracket and replace it with your spare. Reconnect the Quick Connector on the wires and reconnect the inlet and outlet hoses on the pump. The hose that connects to the Fresh Tank should attach to the lefthand side of the Fresh Water Pump and the hose that leads to a "T" section should attach to the righthand side.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Only hand-tighten the hose connections on the Fresh Water Pump. If the connections are too tight, the gasket in the connector can warp and allow water and air to leak.

Test the new Fresh Water Pump by going to the tub, turning the Fresh Water switch on the 12 v Power Panel back on, and checking to see if the water is working again. If it works, you're done! If not, go back through your final steps to make sure that the hoses are hooked up correctly and that the power to the pump is on.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have a two-knob faucet setup, make sure that the knobs are turned to the on position. A common issue with the faucet knobs is users turning them completely off and water not being able to pass through.

You should only perform this swap if a Hanvey Representative suggests it or if you are confident that the source of an issue will be fixed by doing so. If you need further assistance on this topic, please call our office line at 864-269-2912.

Thank you so much for being the most important member of the Hanvey Family!
