How To Test Your Hanvey Van Solenoid
Find your van's multimeter (typically hangs on passenger wall in back of van).
Turn the dial to approximately 10 o'clock position.
This should read 20Vdc.
Place the black lead on the terminal test strip location labeled "Ground".
Place the red lead on the terminal test strip location labeled "S1".
Note the number displayed on the multimeter screen.
Move the red lead off "S1" and put it on the terminal test strip location labeled "S2".
Note the number displayed on the multimeter screen.
You can now turn off and put away the multimeter.
Compare your findings between S1 and S2.
If the difference of the two numbers is within 0.5V of each other, the solenoid is not bad.
If the difference of the two numbers is greater than 0.5V of each other, it is time to replace your solenoid.
Thank you so much for being the most important member of the Hanvey family!
